Certificate of Credit Counseling

All individual debtors must receive budget and credit counseling from a non-profit agency approved by the U. S. Trustee's Office (Refer to 11 USC 109(H) for exceptions).
The Certificate of Credit Counseling should be filed as a separate filing. Do not include it with the petition pdf file.
Waiver of Certificate of Credit Counseling
Refer to Exhibit D (Official Form 1) item numbers 3 and 4 for guidance.
Step-by-Step Procedures:
- Select [Bankruptcy>Other]

Enter case number and click Next

Select Certificate of Credit Counseling from event pick list and click Next
- Select Debtor(s) from party pick list and click Next
Note: If the certificate applies to one of two debtors in a joint case, select that debtor's name only.
- A Reminder screen will appear:
Reminder: DO NOT USE this event to certify that the debtor completed a course in Personal Financial Management. This event should ONLY be used to file the prepetition Credit Counseling certificate.
- Click Next
The PDF Document selection screen will display.

Click Browse button and navigate to locate the appropriate document/file

View file to verify the correct file is being selected

Click Open button and filename will appear in the browse window

Click Next

Click down arrow to select party the certificate is filed on behalf of

The Modify Text page will display. Click down arrow to select a prefix if applicable.

Click Next
The Final Text page will display. This is your final opportunity to modify the entry before submitting the filing.

Verify the accuracy of the docket text. If not correct/if correct

Click Next to complete filing process
The Notice of Electronic Filing will display. It is the verification that the filing has been sent electronically to the court.
Copies of this notice and the document filed are emailed to all participants who receive electronic notification in the case. You have a period of 15 days for a one time free look at the document filed.
